For a rectangular 6-foot table measuring 72 by 30 inches, a 60-by-102-inch tablecloth gives a 15-inch drop on every side. A 90-by-132-inch cloth gives a 30-inch drop. The second option reaches the floor on a 30-inch-high table, but can pool on a shorter table. Measure the height as well as the tabletop before ordering.
That last inch matters for a rental event. Party Perfect America’s 6-foot banquet table is listed at approximately 72 inches long, 30 inches wide and 29 inches tall. A standard floor-length cloth designed around a 30-inch height therefore deserves a test fit. This guide helps you choose a drop for dining, displays and service stations without confusing table size with fabric size.
Quick size chart for a 72-by-30-inch tabletop
The numbers below are calculated with the cloth centered and hanging evenly. Fabric behavior, hems and manufacturing tolerances can affect the final appearance.
| Cloth size | Side drop | End drop |
|---|---|---|
| 54 x 96 | 12 | 12 |
| 60 x 102 | 15 | 15 |
| 60 x 120 | 15 | 24 |
| 90 x 132 | 30 | 30 |
The 60-by-120 option is not an even-drop substitute for 60 by 102: the ends hang nine inches farther down than the sides. Check this before buying multiple cloths from a listing that simply says “fits a six-foot table.”
Calculate the drop instead of guessing
Subtract the table width from the cloth width and divide by two for the side drop. Do the same with the lengths for the end drop. For example, (60 – 30) / 2 = 15 inches, and (102 – 72) / 2 = 15 inches.
To work backward, add twice your desired drop to each tabletop dimension. On a 72-by-30-inch top, a theoretical 29-inch drop requires an 88-by-130-inch rectangle. That is a calculation, not a promise that this is a commonly stocked linen size. Ask your linen supplier how its available cloths fit the measured table, rather than assuming a larger standard size will stop at the floor.
For comparison, table-cover supplier LogoClothz’s six-foot sizing guide uses a 72-by-30-by-30-inch banquet table and distinguishes it from narrower display tables. Its standard-height example is useful, but the actual rental table dimensions take priority.

Choose the finish for the table’s job
Guest dining
Start by testing a shorter drop with one chair and a complete place setting. Sit down, pull the chair out and check how the fabric behaves around knees and chair legs. Your linen choice should work with the meal rather than just the empty-table photograph. Use our six-foot table seating guide for guest quantities; cloth dimensions alone do not determine how many people can sit comfortably.
Cake, gifts and welcome displays
A longer drop can conceal the legs and create a continuous background for the display. Before placing anything heavy or delicate, center the cloth and inspect every edge. Confirm the finished height with the table standing on its actual surface. Do not rely on the styling of a catalog image to establish how your purchased cloth will fit.
Buffet and check-in stations
Ask the person working behind the table whether they need access underneath it. A three-sided fitted cover and a loose rectangular cloth are different products. Confirm which side stays open and how people will reach supplies. For a school fundraiser or company check-in desk, test the seated working position as well as the view guests will see.
Keep the table order and linen order separate
As checked on September 29, 2026, PPA’s individual six-foot banquet table is listed at $10. Six tables would therefore total $60 in table rental items alone. This does not include or price six tablecloths. Do not assume linen availability, colors, laundering, fitting or installation are included in the table listing.
Confirm the rental period, taxes, delivery, setup and collection in the written quote. Browse Tents, Tables & Chairs for the equipment order, then identify who is supplying the linens. Having one person record both orders prevents the venue, host and decorator from each expecting someone else to bring them.
Before ordering all your cloths
- Confirm each table’s shape, length, width and standing height.
- Record dining, buffet, cake and check-in tables separately.
- Choose a desired drop for each use, not one size for every surface.
- Check the seller’s actual fabric dimensions and care instructions.
- Test one cloth with the table and chairs before committing to the full quantity.
- Confirm who brings, fits, removes and returns the linens.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 90-by-132-inch cloth touch the floor?
It has a calculated 30-inch drop on a 72-by-30-inch tabletop. It reaches the floor at a 30-inch table height and may pool at PPA’s approximate 29-inch listed height. Check the actual setup.
Can I use this chart for a six-foot round table?
No. A six-foot round table has a 72-inch diameter, not a 72-by-30-inch rectangular top. Round cloth sizing needs a separate diameter-and-drop calculation.
Does “six-foot fitted cover” mean the same size as a loose cloth?
No. A fitted cover is designed around the table’s dimensions and construction. Check width, height, leg arrangement and open-back options against the supplier’s product specification.
Confirm your rental dimensions before you buy linens
Send Party Perfect America your event date, address and table quantities. Ask for the dimensions and a complete equipment quote for your NJ, NY or CT event, subject to availability and service-location confirmation. Agree separately on any linen requirements before placing an order.
